How To Raise Millions of Ducks in Rice Fields For Meat – Free-range Duck Farming Techniques

On a farm in central Thailand, an army of 10,000 ducks not only roam but hunt. Rice farmers in Thailand are enlisting these birds, known as “field-chasing ducks” to eat in the rice fields after the harvest.

They help to eat yellow apple snails and rice husks left in the field from the previous harvest. Ducks also step on stubble to flatten the ground and make plowing easier. If you are the owner, please comment on the video. I will follow your request as soon as I read it.

Comment 1: Thom Farm said: They work great! My farm only raised 10,000 ducks which were very difficult! want to learn from them too!”

Comment 2: Connie Wojahn said: “Ingenious! I wonder if any of the same ducks from a particular field ever end up on a plate with rice also from the same field? Wouldn’t that be something? But, who knows? It’s kind of sad that the ducks have to go to killing and processing places, but people need food, too, and meat is a protein not readily available from other sources. Personally, I don’t like the taste of duck, although I realize many people do, so this is a good technique to supply duck meat for them. Thanks for the informational video, I learned something I hadn’t known before.”

Comment 3: Wayne Warmack said: “Those tiny swimming things are Artemia, a type of shrimp. They can tolerate salinity as much as 25% but also occur in freshwater such as in the rice paddy.”

Comment 4: Benji Sun *Moxie* said: “Honenebi, they’re a type of fairy shrimp. They’re freshwater crustaceans similar to what many people who were children from the ’70s and 80’s know of as “sea monkeys” (brine shrimp, a kind of saltwater crustaceans).”
