Fennel is a species of flowering plant in the carrot family. It is a hardy, perennial herb with yellow flowers and hairy leaves.
It is native to the shores of the Mediterranean but has become widely nationalized in many parts of the world, especially on dry land near sea-coasts and on riverbanks.

Comment 2: William Walker said: “As a child, we never grew fennel. I only learned of it a few years ago. I love to use the green parts in salads, or as a seasoning in other dishes. I just wish there was more of it with the fennel in the stores. We are trying to start a community garden next year. I should try to grow fennel in it.”
