How Farmers Produce Millions of Asparagus And Harvest – Asparagus Cultivation Techniques

Asparagus is one of the first plants to greet us in spring! It is a perennial, which means that once it is established, the soft spears will return every year. Asparagus can be grown in most temperate regions but thrives in colder regions with long winters.

The edible part of the asparagus plant is the young shoot, which appears when soil temperatures rise above 50°F (10°C) in spring. If you are the owner, drop me a comment on the video. I will follow your request as soon as I read it.

Comment 5: Kurt Hansen said: “There is a non-mentioned preparation step to growing large and fat white asparagus in a mounded 40 cm height soil bed: add 2-3 cm manure to the bed bottom before mounding the soil bed. In addition, the asparagus root tubers should be dug up every five years and replanted in another new mound starting with fresh manure. That’s how great white asparagus were most grown some 50-100 years ago. Green asparagus is way too full of stringy and sinuous fibers compared to white asparagus.”
