I’ve noticed that these beautiful heads start to have brown and black spots as they age on the grocer’s shelves with little to no refrigeration. What I believe might help institute a longer shelf life is if, after spray washing or handling them.

They coat the heads with a light spray of paraffin wax as they do for apples and won’t hurt your digestion or flavor the florets. I see many leaders of cauliflower set on the shelf and wither until some idiot buys it or the grocer throws it away because it can no longer be sold with black spots all over the head. The course cost will increase slightly, which most shoppers will not even notice if they like Cauliflower. Does anyone have any other suggestions?”

Tie the tops to keep the sun out to avoid them turning yellow and losing their flavor and remove the rubber band 1 1/2 months later. A bit too late for me to start from seed, we have a short growing season, and most seedlings sold are grown with chemicals, but I can try it next year.”
